The question that everyone seems to have an opinion on nowadays is, is now the time to buy?
Some would consider this a simple question, those people would not be in the market for a home right now. Those of us who are either shopping for a new home or who works in real estate have spent hour after hour wrestling with this question (insert sleepless night here).
In the investment world, professional investors know there is no such thing as a bottom because you won't know where the bottom is until the market, industry, etc is on it's way up.
The most successful investors look for "Safe Zone" where there is a leveling out of fundamentals.
"Safe Zones" are only part of the equation, as many of us are not professional investors. Most of us wake up to “Chicken Little” affect on a daily bases. National news media obviously make their money on negative news (I remember one of my fav’s, is the threat level red or yellow today), our friends and family always have their opinions, but most them just regurgitate the national news media reports, and then we have the professionals within the industry whether pundits or those we use as realtors, attorney's, mortgage brokers etc.
With so much negativity out there is this perception holding us back from making our own decisions? Every day we are starting to see glimmers of change. From jobless numbers being better that anticipated (still not good, but better), interest rates are so so low, and home prices are far more affordable than they were just a year or so ago. Home sales were up 5% last month when they were expected to be in the negative and so on.
With all this being said, what do you think and why? Is now the time or are you going to wait?
